👋 Who Am I

Hi, I’m Ramesh Rajan — a cloud security architect and engineering leader based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with over 20 years of experience spanning enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and recently, the transformative world of AI. Whether I’m designing architectures or mentoring engineers, I bring a security-first mindset to everything I do. I build with purpose, always grounded in real-world experience — from leading cloud migrations to crafting zero-trust security models and scalable Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.

💻 Where It All Began

My tech journey started as a Unix Engineer, where I learned the value of resilience, uptime, and simple architectures . That foundation led me to become a Storage Engineer and Architect, managing massive multi-petabyte infrastructures at tech giants like eBay and PayPal. With every step forward, I grew into leadership roles at Hitachi Data Systems—guiding global engineering teams, championing automation, and driving modernization efforts across diverse environments.

☁️ What I Do Today

Now, I specialize in cloud architecture and cloud security, having built secure, high-performing solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP for Fortune 500 companies. At Amazon Web Services (AWS), I serve as a Senior Security Architect, partnering with Security leaders and security practitioners to architect solutions that balance security, compliance, innovation, and scale.

🔐 What Drives Me

Beyond the code and clouds, I’m passionate about being an Entrepreneur, Stocks, Real Estate and Public Speaking — sharing lessons, patterns, and ideas with the next generation of entrepreneurs, builders and defenders. Security isn’t just my job — it’s a lens through which I see the world. I thrive at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation.

🤖 What’s Next: AI & Security

My current work and research live at the cutting edge of AI and security, with a focus on:

  • Security of AI: Protecting AI systems from adversarial threats
  • AI for Security: Using AI to detect, respond, and harden environments
  • Security from AI: Anticipating and mitigating unintended consequences of autonomous systems

This intersection is where ethical design, intelligent automation, and advanced threat modeling collide — and it’s where I’m most excited to build next.
